FREE ROMANTIC SUSPENSE - LETHAL REFUGE

There's a free copy of my paperback going begging. LETHAL REFUGE, partially romantic suspense and partially police procedural has just been released by the Wild Rose Press.

I'm looking for the best comments posted on this blogsite about either New Zealand, where the novel is set, or about why they read in the romantic suspense genre. No ordinary stuff. Give me something unusual, unpredictable or even outrageous.

Make sure you leave your email addresses.

I LOVE New Zealand for one really memorable visit. I discovered Sauvignon Blanc whilst on a scholarship tour (on my lonesome) over there in 2006. I stayed at Takapuna Beach on the North Shore of Auckland and over the course of 7 nights... I moved down the restaurant strip (just me and my book) sampling a different restaurant every night. During the course of my dining out, I discovered NZ Sauv Blanc and Pinot Gris.
May I add... many, many bottles have graced our wine rack at home since then...

  2. Hahaha! Love your answer Annie!! : )

Me? Well - I'm a native New Zealander and writer, so I should be able to come up with something good and juicy right? Uh, nuh. I got nothing...

But...I do love to set my own stories in NZ and they tend to highlight some hot Kiwi cops. Maybe its something to do with when I was looking at joining the police force many years ago - and my own experiences with the (sigh...) gorgeous men I dealt with back then. Drool...huh?! What? Oh! Sorry - I was dreaming... Men in uniform, suspense stories set in NZ? Gets me every time. Can't wait to read yours Vonnie ; )

    1. Not sure about SOME men in uniform, LaVerne!

I just love the feeling of safety NZ cops give you. You can ask for help and get it. There are places I've been and lived in where that does not apply.

  3. Well, unfortunately, I know nothing about NZ except what I read and live vicariously through posters such as those above. (le sigh)

But Eve Dallas and Roarke are my absolute heroes. (You may not know them, but I visit them quite regularly. If your characters can make my heart race like they do, then I'm sold.

    1. Let's see you want an outstanding comment..does that mean you want me to go out side and give a comment? It is too cold for that right now. Winter and high winds recently showed up. ha ha I think what I can do is say the cover of your book is different and it sounds very outstanding. I can not get as outstanding as the book sounds. I have never been in your area..heck I haven't been very far in the USA even..I travel in my easy chair and mostly in book forms. I do want to say I wish you tons of luck on the book and may the new year hold so many OUTSTANDING THINGS for you and yours. susan Leech garysue@dejazzd.com

    2. Eve Dallas and Roarke. OMG. Can't go past the best couple in the business. Doubt I can rise to those standards, Susan. They are the best of the best. Sigh.

  5. Sorry I don't have anything grand to say because I've never been to NZ... but have several family and friends who have made the magical journey.
I can only say 2 things here in my defense ....
First - My artists' appreciation for the outstanding beauty of the country from photographs and documentaries etc. But I never really quite caught that essence until I saw 'Lord of the Rings' and Found out it was made in NZ. I so want to visit Froddo's home one day, and get some spectacular pictures of my own to paint.
Second - I LOVE the NZ accent

    1. Yep, Lord of the Rings certainly put NZ on the map, Mary.

  6. Hi Vonnie. Love the sound of your book & like many others NZ is still on my wish list to visit someday before I graduate to a walking frame. The real reason I read romantic suspense...I'm secretly planning my own crime & need to know everything I can about police procedures.
Nah, just kidding. Best of luck with your new release.

I could go on about how groovy New Zealand is. It's one of the most beautiful, breath-taking and oh-my-giddy-aunt WINDY places I have ever been (and I say this as someone who grew up in Fremantle).
I could go on about how, since NZ became Middle Earth, it's the perfect setting for a middle-grounder like you, whose work straddles regency and mean streets (and I am still trying to come up with a website tag line as good as yours).
But mostly I just want to say that I would read this book because that is one of the best titles I have seen in a long time. Layers! Resonant words! Creepiness! It has it all! Great cover, too.
Okay, re-reading this, I think it is mostly outstanding for what sounds like shameless sucking up, but for what it's worth, I meant it all!
    Good luck with the book.
    Imelda
